Thanks to Ray of NamePros for the tip:

Thanks to smashfactory over at NamePros for bringing this to our attention:
2007 ended with a total base of just over 58 million ccTLD domain name registrations. The ccTLDs as a whole experienced six percent growth quarter over quarter and 33 percent growth year over year. The largest ccTLDs saw moderate growth or slowing in the fourth quarter. For example, only eight of the top 20 largest ccTLDs increased the size of their base at a rate faster than then they did in the third quarter. Of those, the growth rate of only two grew at rates greater than one percentage point; .cn’s growth rate grew at just over six percentage points and .fr grew at just over one percentage point over the previous quarter…

The following domain names are up for auction at Sedo.com. Each name is followed by the amount bid (converted to US dollars if the native currency is not USD), the number of bids, the time remaining in the auction, whether the reserve has been met, and any unique hits if specified by Sedo. All auctions still have two or more days remaining before they close:
cash.tv--------$7,365--1--2d 45m------(reserve met)
british.tv------$1,378--11-2d 22h 42m-(reserve NOT met)--219 unique visitors per month
webb.tv-------$125----1--3d 5h 42m---(reserve met)--55 unique visitors per month
fantasias.tv---$1,378--1--4d 11h 1m---(reserve met)--515 unique visitors a month
erection.tv----$2,000--1--5d 5h 28m---(reserve met)
oral.tv---------$2,750--1--5d 5h 42m---(reserve met)
First and foremost, I would want to know whether any .tv names carry premium pricing under the Verisign pricing structure before I even considered bidding on them because renewal pricing influences a domain’s value more in the .tv extension than other extensions…

De.tv was sold on the 12th of May for $21,500 in a directly negotiated sale between me and John van den Berg.
I was a 50% owner in DE.TV along with one of my business partners, Timothy Suggs.
John van den Berg is a well known and very much respected domain investor, with a particular love for the .tv extension.
In my negotiations with John, we both felt that if we were to reach an agreement on the price, then we would be making it available for public consumption and reporting the sale to DN Journal.

Okay, so I had just confirmed my first power interview for Allthings.TV.
Not that this was my first interview, I had already done an interview with Bangarang TV, (http://www.allthings.tv/articles/33/...gtv/Page1.html) to favorable reviews and comments.
But interviewing a student film crew about a pet project and the spokesperson for Demand Media regarding the upcoming promotion of the .TV extension are two different ballgames. Especially when you take into account the fact that Allthings.TV didn’t get off to the best of starts with Demand Media.

As I write this, I realize that I was late to the .tv game.
“In 1998, the Geneva based International Organization of Standards, assignor of country-doe, ‘top level domain’ names on the Internet, assigned .tv to Tuvalu, just as it had dealt .jp to Japan. As a result, Tuvaluans owned that Web address, and could license it for non-Tuvaluans to use.
In 2000, Tuvalu agreed to lease its .tv extension for 12 years to dotTV Corp, an Ideallab company, for close to $50 million in cash, a minority ownership stake in dotTV Corp., and a seat on the company’s board. VeriSign, the company that maintains registries for .com and Dot Net domain names, subsequently bought the dotTV Corporation, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of VeriSign.”
At least this is what I could piece together from my research.

I inadvertently discovered this from a cached Google page of http://www.tv.
Given the number of us who probably asked some of these questions at one time or another, I felt this would make for a useful post.
Disclaimer: Some of this info is more marketing oriented and I have separated in the second set of quotes below.
