One of my companies produces video for the web to promote its network of sites and attract new visitors who would not ordinarily discover us through our ads or word of mouth.

I recall when the company gave video production a go for the first time almost 3 years ago...few even knew about YouTube.  The company only had one high-quality camera (because that is all its budget could afford).  Everyone was forced to learn how to get video from digital video tapes captured to a hard drive on a computer, how to edit the video, how to add titles and advertisements in the video, how to export the video, how to compress the video, how to convert the video to flash, how to setup and maintain a video server, how to upload the video to the server and publish it to the web by adding a database entry.  Sounds like a lot of work right?

Well, anybody can do it in their sleep after a few attempts, but I digress…

Yes, we have all heard stories of people getting discovered on You Tube. But the odds of it happening to you, given the vastness of the site and the sheer number of videos being uploaded on a daily basis, are slim indeed.

Throw in all that spam advertising to the mix and it’s a jungle out there.

That is the one huge advantage of having a Me.tv site. Your very own address. Your ocean of calm as opposed to the chaos that is the shared You Tube mega complex.

You not only have your own address, but you also have tools that have been designed to turn the pro internet surfer into an amateur web designer.

No website is perfect and neither is Tulsa tv, but it does come pretty close!!.

If you are holding with me from the start, I am in the process of reviewing existing geo tv sites and the opinions expressed are my own, not that of Allthings.tv.

So whilst I was disappointed with Boston tv, I am about to rave about Tulsa. Others may look at Tulsa, shrug their shoulders and say “whats the big deal!”

So here are some of the reasons I like Tulsa tv.

Boston.TV starts off my review of the developed .tv geo landscape.  Let’s first see how Boston.tv rate themselves:

Boston.TV is Boston’s premiere online video entertainment network seeking to both inform and entertain through unique and compelling video content. Boston.TV has a finger on the pulse of the city; it is your eyes and ears into the city’s hottest parties, newest restaurants, and most exciting sporting, theatre and art events. If something is happening in the city, our cameras will be there.

Unfortunately, I disagree with most of the above.

When buying up the generic city .tv in the geo name space, one has to remember that there is one monetization model, the PPC revenue model, that works wonders for .com geos, but will do nothing for .tv names.

For the next five years at least, I do not believe that there will be anything like the type of type in traffic that the .coms enjoy and thus simply having a parked page with lists of local companies offering services is not a meaningful business plan - at least not if you want to fully exploit the geo tv landscape.

What the geo .tv needs to offer is something more than a parked page and the options are many. But the bottom line is these sites need to be fully developed - no half hearted attempts, but full on development.

Ready to broadcast your own tv show? And I mean live broadcast.

All you need is Mogulus, the internet, and a webcam, along with your talent and passion to communicate…..reads the wording on the Mogulus website.

Right now Mogulus is in serious Beta mode. The 700 beta applicants granted an authorization code to broadcast their own channel as of May 23rd can only do so on the Mogulus network.

A bit further down the road, Mogulus states “we plan to choose the best channels and allow the producer to embed the Mogulus viewer on their website or blog. This will give anybody on the internet a sneak peek at the great channels Mogulus can help create, even though we haven’t fully launched yet.”

Jeremy has kindly agreed to free up some time to talk to Allthings.tv in the early part of next week. I do have a list of questions that I will be putting to Jeremy concerning the BrightCove platform/network, different monetization models available to content producers aswell as publishers thinking about launching their own channel and his thoughts on the future of video on the net in general.

Surf the blogosphere today and it is awash with the news of the five million dollar purchase of video blog Wallstrip, an irreverent blog on Wall Street and finance.

Some bloggers are saying that this is yet another sign of a Web 2.0 bubble with CBS forking over all this money for a nine month old company yet to show a cent’s worth of profit.

Others are stating that CBS are simply buying the talents (and looks) of Lindsay Cambell, the show’s host.

Other theories abound such as CBS is buying the blog founder Howard Lindzon’s brain. Fred Wilson, a blogger, friend of Howard and venture capitalist of 19 years describes Howard in his blog.
