It seems like generic .com domain names continue to skyrocket in value. I am no expert, but I find it hard to believe some of the prices being paid for certain domains.
So what domains do those without millions invest in?
Apparently, a recent trend is to group similar names (often sub-par in my opinion) related to an industry into a single portfolio and auction it off...at least that is what BlogSpot Brands seeks to do, but ARE THEY SERIOUS; 50k for sub-par domains????

Moniker held domain name auctions (live and silent) at the recent Affiliate Summit East in Miami. While this relates to domains other than .tv, the closing prices for some of these domains are impressive. I believe its another sign that more and more individuals and companies are getting into the business of domaining:
Passover.com $100,000 (Silent Auction)
Pay.mobi $50,000 (Silent Auction)
FileCabinet.com $47,060 (Silent Auction)
BadBoys.com $45,000 (Live Auction)
PrescriptionMedication.com $40,000 (Live Auction)
AffiliateDirectory.com $30,000 (Live Auction)
Sitcoms.com $25,000 (Live Auction)

Take a look at the site and it looks like there’s nothing to shout about. This site clearly is a social networking site for people in the Portland Maine area and it would seem that its main objective is to get members to upload videos that matter to them onto the site for fellow residents or the rest of the world for that matter, to comment on.
One can see the power of local over global when you take a look at how many views a local band, “How to undress ” has had on PortlandMaine.tv - 1357 and counting. Yet on You Tube, it has had less than 800 views in total.
This site was started in the beginning of May and has had over 50,000 page views to date. The owner of the site, Jack Joyce, is fully expecting the site to hit 200,000 page views in the coming month, ( if not more) because he has just landed a deal of a life time.

More and more television stations, entertainment companies, sports organizations, and even media companies are harnessing the power of video on the Internet. We can now add apparel and clothing companies to that list as well.
Haggar Clothing Co. was started 80 years ago to supply working men with quality apparel.
Today, they are leveraging the power of video on the Internet by releasing viral video ads designed to appeal to the male demographic that buy their clothing. Pete and Red star in the video ads and are portrayed as “fearless, suburban heroes.”
They tackle loud radios, car-washing, your daughter’s “good for nothin’ boyfriend,” and offer us new solutions to the perpetually late cable guy, some un-neighborly conduct and common parking hassle.

That is correct. If you have not heard of blip.tv until today, then you will probably hear about it more often going forward. Blip.tv provides a “great service for great shows.” The team at Blip.tv gets it! They know how the Internet is ushering in a new revolution as individuals and small groups pick up the video camera and produce videos for the web. They see the Internet as it is: The New World of Entertainment. Blip.tv removes many of the obstacles that the average amateur faces in delivering his or her own video across the web. Blip.tv provides the servers, the software, the workflow, the advertising, and the distribution.
That is quite the recipe for success if they can continue to lure the talented individuals and groups producing video content for the web to publish on their site, which should not be difficult considering the exposure and rev-share Blip offers: Blip shares revenue with content creators on a 50/50 basis!
While Blip.tv was founded just over two years ago, it recently announced that it closed its first deal with venture capital investors, some of which include the four founding engineers of Skype. Go BLIP.tv!!!!! It is always nice to learn about the success of our .tv brethren.
