I learned that a new legal article related to .tv and other ccTLDs was recently published or made available on http://www.ibls.com. However, the article is only available to members so I thought I would post it here if you decide to become a member (and if you want to share it with me

The description of the article is:
Companies used to be able to register their domain name in the “.com” hierarchy without concern for other “top-level domains.” A large number of countries however have been using their “country-code” domain names for example Tuvalu’s “.tv”. Country codes should be considered and how online businesses and electronic commerce should react to them.

A google search related to .tv brough up this recent legal event related to trademark law, TV, and domain names.
A US based firm, India Broadcast Live (which broadcasts Indian TV programmes) lost an Internet domain case brought by India TV, which alleged that the Internet domain, indiatvlive.com, was similar to its trademark and that the plaintiffs had no legtimate right over the domain name. eBay may be the greatest success story of the Internet, providing buyers and sellers an online marketplace to exchange virtually anything, including domain names.
Unfortunately, such a marketplace for anything and everything can be a trap for the unwary, especially if one discovers an item at a steal of a price shortly before the auction is scheduled to close.
What you see may not be what you get as one succesful bidder may learn very soon. An auction for the domain lsles.com closed with a final price of $765 recently on eBay…

Today, Ron Jackson posted (on DNJournal.com in the lowdown section) to let everyone know that AvivaDirectory.com published ”10 U.S. Laws Every Domainer Should Know”.
While every domainer should read it, the part about “Depreciating v. Deducting [the cost of] Your Domains” should be of interest to all premium .tv domain name owners. I have quoted that section here for your reference…
