I was shocked.

Almost a year ago, I entered negotiations with a dot tv (.tv) owner related to the purchase of his/her domain name.  The seller wanted a $xx,xxx price.  It wasn’t worth that and after asking the seller to justify the price and discussing the merits of his arguments, he finally lowered his price to $x,xxx…

Unfortunately, the lowest price he was willing to accept did not meet the highest price I was willing to pay so no deal was done.

Fast forward to last night.  Its 4 a.m.  I am in bed, tossing and turning, thinking about dot tv and tv domains in general and the thought comes to mind: What about tv.com?

I sit up in bed with my body aching and walk downstairs.  I punch in both the singular and plural versions of the tv dot com domain counterparts.  What do you know...they are both available.

I regged them, sat down in the chair finally, and just explored my disbelief.

Then I realized that I too have been guilty of being quick to reg the dot tv and forgetful to reg the tv dot com versions.

Some consider it cheap insurance or hedging your bet, but I felt it was necessary to protect my long term development strategy.
