The geo (short for geography or geographical) domain space is becoming red hot, particular in the dot tv extension since the extension lends itself particularly well to the kind of coverage one might show on a geographically oriented site. For example, Vanuatu dot TV…
...Vanuatu.tv delivers entertaining and dynamic video clips on Vanuatu. The clips relate to culture, accommodation, tours, restaurants to real estate and business opportunities. What does this mean? Its an incredible lead generator for a variety of businesses and industries for that geographic area. While I have seen this site in the past, James brought it to the attention of the NamePros forum recently so I thought I would comment and I credit him with seeing the increasing value of GEO domain names.
Another great site to take a look at is Boston dot TV (boston.tv), which James was not impressed with in the past. The site continues to grow and broadcast new videos that would be very interesting if you were a resident of that city. Boston TV also recently added an area on its website for user created content using the latest KickApps suite of software solutions. I expect to see more sites that cater to cities with active populations like Boston to incorporate similar features in the future.
This is one dot tv domain space not only I would value, but Frank Schilling has been known to say its one area that makes sense in the dot tv domain extension, which says a lot coming from him. Its no surprise that Demand Media placed incredible premiums on GEO dot tv domain names, but there are some gems out there that do not carry substantial premiums if any at all.
While its not exactly directly on point with respect to GEO domains, check out Hollywood dot TV (hollywood.tv) to see how Sheeraz has developed a company that now supplies some of the major gossip television shows (including TMZ) with video content of celebs. If you have watched any of the gossip shows recently, you probably have seen some of the videos broadcast on television with the Hollywood dot tv watermark. Hollywood.tv is another great example of an innovative way to use a geo dot tv domain name to cater to a specific industry or niche interest.
