Whilst I am always going to have a strong affiliation to the .tv extension, it is not the only domain that I am invested in. I have some .com traffic domains aswell as some .mobi names.
My feelings on the .mobi land rush back in 2006 is that I gambled and gambled wrong. To me this was an extension that made little sense given that a .com could work just aswell for a small mobile screen as it could for the laptop and desktop, so why would anyone want to tap in a four letter extension on a tiny keyboard when three would do and when com was and is still king.
And so I registered just one domain, GHETTO.mobi. And to be honest, even that was more of a “just to say I was there” reg than anything else.
In the half year or so since the birth of .mobi there have been some memorable .mobi sales, the most memorable of all being FLOWERS.mobi, bought for $200,000 by TRAFFIC co-founder Rick Schwartz, FUN.mobi, bought for $100,000 by Anything.com and SPORTSBOOK.mobi for $129,800 in a private sale.
Keeping an eye on the .mobi forum on Namepros, I noticed two things. First, I was wrong about the extension, and started to buy a few more .mobis and second, there was this guy called Jeremy Padawer who was investing heavily in the extension aswell as offering strategic advice as to the ins and outs of sensible domain name investing - be it .mobi or .com.
Now, my experience to date with domaining, is that the most successful investors have very little to share in public forums such as Namepros. Yet Jeremy did not seem to fit this mold. Undoubtedly successful in his earlier career as a .com investor back in 1996 through to 2000, Jeremy was getting involved again, this time with the .mobi extension and proving, yet again, he had the golden touch.
I decided to get in touch with Jeremy and see if he would be willing to agree to an interview on his domaining career. He was!! So assuring Jeremy that I would not take up more than half an hour out of his Friday afternoon schedule, I found myself on the receiving end of the most interesting discussion on the subject of domaining that I have had the privilege to be a party to.
Jeremy was as generous with his time as he was with his advice, the half hour quickly turned into an hour, and I for one was not about to complain!!
There are many many points that were covered, some of the hilites must be Jeremy’s early career as a .com investor, his strong belief in .mobi, and a growing admiration for the .tv extension, so much so that Jeremy wanted to know if Vehicles.Tv was available and did a check on Enom.tv live during the interview to try reg it. (It was not , Vehicle.tv was, but Jeremy passed on that one!!)
This was my first interview using digital recording equipment, so if there are any parts of the interview that are unclear, please accept my humblest apologies. The good news is that it is me that is unclear for a few seconds here and there - Jeremy comes across loud, clear and professional at all times!!

He had some good things to say about the future of ,TV in there..
Great interview James you guys are doing some good work well done!
James, I really enjoyed this interview. Jeremy opened my eyes up even more to .mobi so I am considering developing some .mobi sites for my portfolio when I have the time.
