A prominent .tv site was recently attacked by a professional hacker. Service was restored within a short period of time and no permanent damage was done.  The owner believes that this was an isolated incident, the hacker was not targeting him personally, and it wasn’t some angry .com diehard seeking to slow the growth and popularity of .tv.

At this time, I cannot release further details without the owner’s permission, which I am currently seeking.  Nevertheless, I thought that this was great opportunity to let everyone know that they should be concerned about the security of their .tv sites and backing them up according to some schedule depending on how much content they stand to loose between backup dates.

I noticed that James informed the .tv community on NamePros that he (and one of his business partners) initially received a $25,xxx offer for IT.tv.  James commented that the offer was later increased to $30k.  The domain, according to James, carries a $5k/year renewal fee...ouch!

It seems that James believes this is one of this top domain names and many think he could fetch a six figure amount in a year or two.  No news on whether he intends on accepting anything close to the offered amount, but congratulations to James, who managed to have the capital and knowledge of the .tv extension to snag IT.tv when it was available.

After more than 14 days, I am now back in Southern California after spending some time on the Colorado River in Arizona and in the panhandle of Florida.

While it was intended as a vacation, I could not help but dream about different development opportunities for some of my names including boat.tv, powerboat.tv, and jetski.tv.  I was a bit surprised when I noticed guys younger than me driving boats worth $xxx, xxx; it turns out that anybody with decent credit can buy a boat with a 20 year payment plan, similar to a house...who knew.  I shared some of those ideas with watercraft owners and the feedback was very positive.
