The first fifteen minutes of the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs joint interview from the AllthingsD conference. Some nice comments to and about each other aswell as a few amusing anecdotes. Hands up all of you who knew that Apple was born in 1975!!

Today I had the honor and priviledge of interviewing two big industry players. I interviewed Jeremy Allaire of BrightCove.Com and Brian Gruber of Fora.tv. Both CEO’s had positive comments to make on the .tv extension, although the interviews were not about .tv per se.
But Jeremy did agree that he was noticing a trend of more companies with a .tv extension signing up to the BrightCove network/platform and in fact coupled that with a very bold statement that 2007 would be the year that one will be able to watch tv quality tv on the laptop/desktop.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
It is not often that you have a technology conference with such a line up of superstars and icons of the industry. I will attempt to place each video on Allthings as they become available for your viewing experiance.
I know this much. I will be attending next year’s conference if my health permits. Me and Kevin had no idea of this blog AllthingsD.Com when we chose our name for Allthings .TV. We are glad though that if we have a similar name, it should be so similar to such as prestigious organisation.

Moss Waltberg and Steve Ballmer have not always seen eye to eye over the years and that comes across plain and clear. But there is no denying Walt being impressed by the very scary capabilities this new product has.

We couldn’t talk about mashups and not have the widget “thingimijig” enter into the conversation sooner or later. All part of this Web 2.0 environment I am afraid!!
Alot of you know what a widget is already and thats ok. This article is written for those of you who do not, or who know what it is but have a problem in accurately defining it. The article will also point out where the great widget download sites are located on the internet landscape.
This is not my article, but one written by Frank Gruber in his blog “Somewhat Frank”. It is a well written piece and one that I think is worthy of reprinting.

Since taking on a role here at AllThings.tv, I encounter a lot of things I know nothing about, but my job is to learn as much as possible. Fortunately, I am able to ask a lot of questions like, “How did they do that?” or “Can you show me a great example of that?”
Recently, I participated in a conference call with four other executives and one of them continued to talk about Mashups. According to wikipedia, Mashups (or Mash-ups) are websites/applications that combine content from more than one source into an integrated experience. Its the mixing together or combination of different data or applications into a new, single application that offers something different.
After the conference call, one of my colleagues sent me a link to a video that helps to visualize and understand what mashups are and why they are the cool, new breed of applications. Check out the video after the jump.

In a press release issued by Dow Jones.Com, “ Apple, Inc., CEO Steve Jobs and Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates, the seminal figures in the development of the personal computer, will make a rare joint appearance at The Wall Street Journal’s “D: All Things Digital” conference this year.
The two men will jointly discuss the history and future of the digital revolution in an unrehearsed, unscripted, onstage conversation on May 30 with D co-producers Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher for seventy five minutes”
DowJones.Com continues “In addition to participating in the joint session with Mr. Gates, Mr. Jobs will appear on his own in a separate segment at D5 to discuss the latest developments at Apple, including new ventures such as the iPhone and Apple TV.

Some of our viewers will remember a quick article I wrote on Fora.tv a while back. Alright, it wasn’t so much an article, more a quick announcement of what a fully developed .tv site can look like. A good idea, great content and a superior website development team are the essential ingredients needed to produce a site of this quality.
Notice if you will, the lack of “bling” to the site, but the obvious class of the content is all too apparent.
The above video is a prime example of such content, a video debate between Al Sharpton and Christopher Hitchens on the recent publication by Mr Hitchens of his controversial book “God is not great, How religion poisons everything..”
