I would like to welcome on board two new authors to the AllThings.tv crew: Tim Suggs and Sanchay Kumar. These guys rock!!
Sanchay a good friend and mentor, has taught me everything I have picked up on in the last year on how to perfect the art of buying domains (an ongoing lesson I would like to add)........and, who has proven time and again that he possesses the most important skill of all - the art of Selling domain names.....
Having Sanchay on board will give the necessary gravitas that AllThings.tv is looking for as a new site in the .TV world.
Also, joining us as a regular contributor is Tim Suggs (read his biography, he will explain how he got his name I promise!!) . Another friend aswell as domain business partner, Tim has been domaining as far back as 1999 and has some super sales to add to his resume, including at least one .tv domain name in the high X,XXX that I know of! is currently involved in many many projects and we at AllThings.tv are grateful indeed for sharing his time with us.
Want to get to know Mr.tv and Aaamaretto a little better??? Read their bios on AllThings.tv by clicking on the “view author” tab (in the navigation bar at the top) and keep visiting this site for the latest and greatest articles.

Dmitry Shapiro, founder of Voeh Networks, a company backed by Michael Eisner, is one person who does! Voeh Networks, which recently came out of beta mode, released a revenue-sharing model for original-content creators that allows them to check out their traffic related to their content across a host of video-sharing sites.
Dmitry seems to feel that he doesn’t need an audience the size of YouTube to compete. He believes that his “site’s ability to show DVD-like content and its peer-to-peer technology will win out.”

Apparently, Time Inc. and TV Guide, major magazine publishers, will be taking on Internet Video very soon.
“Time Inc. announced last week it is launching an in-house studio to help its 130 magazines develop videos for the Web. Along with that plan, it will work with Brightcove, a leading provider of Internet video production, distribution and ad sales services.
The developments are designed to dramatically increase video offerings for Time.com and sites for other popular titles including Fortune, Money, Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly.
Other magazines also have made a leap to the Web recently. Last month, Us Weekly partnered with technology company Veoh Networks to create the Celebrity Channel.”

Joost is offering a limited beta program for its software to users with Intel-based Macs. The interactive software is used to distribute TV shows and other forms of video over the Web using peer-to-peer tv technology, which leverages the computer of users viewing video content to distribute the content to others. Created by founders of Skype and Kazaa, Joost claims to offer a new way of watching TV on the internet: “We’re in the process of making it as TV-like as we can, with programmes, channels and adverts.” Users can search for programming and channels, which are currently much like playlists of videos that allow users to change channels.
Users can also use an built-in program guide to choose a channel or a video, the company says users may also see an occasional advertisement. Joost also includes social networking features, such as integrated chat.

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of new names in the .tv game. This is great news for the .tv extension and an indication that .tv will continue to show strong growth into 2007.
I wanted to write this article as a primer for those who may be new to domaining. I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I think this article should help you avoid the pitfalls and common mistakes made by novices when they fist enter the domain name business, and understand what strategies the experienced .tv domainers are discussing.
This article contains tips, strategies, and techniques to help you acquire a diversified .tv portfolio. It is not meant to be a bible, but is a great place to start:

As I write this, I realize that I was late to the .tv game.
“In 1998, the Geneva based International Organization of Standards, assignor of country-doe, ‘top level domain’ names on the Internet, assigned .tv to Tuvalu, just as it had dealt .jp to Japan. As a result, Tuvaluans owned that Web address, and could license it for non-Tuvaluans to use.
In 2000, Tuvalu agreed to lease its .tv extension for 12 years to dotTV Corp, an Ideallab company, for close to $50 million in cash, a minority ownership stake in dotTV Corp., and a seat on the company’s board. VeriSign, the company that maintains registries for .com and Dot Net domain names, subsequently bought the dotTV Corporation, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of VeriSign.”
At least this is what I could piece together from my research.

Today, Afternic reported that mongrel.tv sold for $150 to the second bidder for the domain, which was placed in the “All Categories / Uncategorized” Category.

Has .tv eclipsed .net? This quote may suggest that Hollywood is willing to embrace .tv over other extensions:
“We had our dot com snatched by squatters; now we are a dot tv. We learned a lot in the past decade, but good stories are still good stories.”
