The news sector seems to be hot right now following the sale of News.tv (which has yet to be developed), we now have another site: HotNewz.TV!  Phillip Anastos, son of New York TV legend Ernie Anastos, has launched a unique Internet television channel…

On 17 January, at 2 p.pm. CET, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) launched an embedded version of its web TV channel ParalympicSport.TV on its website paralympic.org.

With its roots in televised home shopping shows, ShopNBC.com was a natural to lead in the use of video online. More than 30% of the items on the site feature 30-second to 1-minute video demonstrations, and customers who watch them convert at twice the rate as other visitors to the site, says Geoff Smith, vice president of Internet.

“That`s a really innovative feature,” says Chris Vicente, senior retail practice manager at consulting firm BearingPoint. “When you go to a web site, even if there are multiple views of an item, you actually want to see the product in action.”

Whether a dot tv domain name is a great value is in the eye of the beholder but few would disagree that picking up a premium dot tv name with a renewal price of $x,xxx or greater could be a risky proposition…

Sahar, a well-respected blogger in the domain sphere, touted the dot tv (.tv) extension in a short article today, pointing out that it offers unique advertising benefits.  My comments and the link after the jump…

Last week, exoticcars.tv sold for $2,375 according to SEDO’s home page.  Following the most notable dot tv sales reported earlier this month, this is yet another strong sale for the extension especially considering that its a two-word domain name with a decent overture score of almost 20,000 for just the terms “exotic car.”

Late last month, Brightspot.tv shut the lights of to its website off to “develop the next iteration of the service,” which rewarded consumers for watching advertisements. For more info, see this article, which was courtesy of SKG of NamePros.

More news after the jump…

I spotted ADNStream.tv the other day.  You should check it out when you get a chance...the site streams full screen video with okay quality.  As it becomes cheaper and faster to stream video, the quality should increase.  The most interesting aspect of the ADNStream.tv platform is the onscreen tools and remote control.  If you play around with them, you can find a category with videos in english.

One of my companies produces video for the web to promote its network of sites and attract new visitors who would not ordinarily discover us through our ads or word of mouth.

I recall when the company gave video production a go for the first time almost 3 years ago...few even knew about YouTube.  The company only had one high-quality camera (because that is all its budget could afford).  Everyone was forced to learn how to get video from digital video tapes captured to a hard drive on a computer, how to edit the video, how to add titles and advertisements in the video, how to export the video, how to compress the video, how to convert the video to flash, how to setup and maintain a video server, how to upload the video to the server and publish it to the web by adding a database entry.  Sounds like a lot of work right?

Well, anybody can do it in their sleep after a few attempts, but I digress…
